Election Information

Are you new to Adams County or need to update your information?

If you have recently moved into Adams County, Welcome!  Voter registration in the State of Idaho is administered at the county level, with the Adams County Clerk serving as the chief voter registration official for Adams County.

Starting July 1st, 2023, new voters will need to provide one form of photo identification and one form of proof of residency to complete their voter registration process. Click here for approved photo identification and proof of residency documents.

If your need to update your Idaho voter registration information, you may come into the clerks office during regular business hours with your documents and update your information, or you may also go online to VoteIdaho.gov and update your information with the Secretary of States office.

Your application may not be approved until proof of residency is brought into the Adams County Clerks office. Please visit during the open pre-registration time frame listed below, or you can bring it with you on Election Day to your polling location, should proof of residency be required.

A letter will be mailed to you informing you of your registration acceptance and polling location.

Interested In Becoming a Poll Worker?

If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, please complete the Poll Worker Information Form and email it to Sherry Ward , drop it off in our office, or mail it to Adams County Clerk, P.O. Box 48, Council, ID 83612.

To be eligible to serve as a poll worker, you must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen. Opportunities for student poll workers between the ages of 16-17 are available. Please contact our office for information.

Voter Registration

Registration is subject to dates on the Local Elections Calendar.  You are not eligible to vote if you have been convicted of a felony and your rights have not been restored.

To register and vote, you must be:

  1. A US citizen
  2. A resident of Adams County and Idaho for 30 days
  3. At least 18 years of age

You need to re-register if you have:

  1. Changed your name
  2. Moved to a different address
  3. Not voted within the last 4 years

Same Day Registration is available in Idaho which gives you the opportunity to register on Election Day.

Absentee Voting

The next elections in Adams County will be held on November 3, 2026.

Early voting will begin on October 19th, 2026 thru October 30th, 2026 at the Adams County Courthouse, in the clerks office, from 8:00am-5:00pm.

To receive an absentee ballot by mail, you can fill out a request on VoteIdaho.gov, or print the Absentee Request Form, fill it out and mail it to Adams County Clerk, PO Box 48, Council, ID 83612. You may also fax it to (208) 253-4880 or email it to Teressa Schuyler.

Applications for absentee ballots must be received by 5pm on October 23rd, 2026.
